The U.S. has occupied, not liberated Iraq. People protested around the world on March 19th, the 2nd anniversary of our invasion. Did you know the U.S. has forced Iraqi farmers to buy our genetically-engineered seeds, and has outlawed saving seeds from the last years crop??! This war is about corporate and political control, and we need to stop buying corporate products which direct support their murderous regime. genetically-engineered seeds, and has outlawed saving seeds from the last years crop??! The occupation still continues, and public support is finally acknowledging this was a mistake to begin with. It's not about repubs vs. democrats; it's about the ruling elite imposing an imperial agenda vs. the people's of the world. Rise up and resist! agenda vs. the people's of the world. Rise up and resist! - photos: 52 (17 MB)

Thousands of students across the country walked of class on November 2nd to protest Bush's war on Iraq, military recruitment in schools, and to demand money for jobs and education, not war. Today, Youth Against War & Racism (YAWR) mobilized high school & even middle school! students to walk out of school in protest of this racist war.
Side note: Usually we get lucky with the weather - but today it rained - hard and cold. Yet STILL this many people turned out!!!
6 students were arrested, ticketed and released in front of the Army Recruiting Center which became the new location, since original plans were foiled by the rain.
See some video clips of the protest at http://radio.indymedia.org/news/2006/04/9554.php, at http://radio.indymedia.org/news/2006/04/9563.php, and at http://radio.indymedia.org/news/2006/04/9564.php.

The Declaration of Independence states that we have created the gov't of, by & for the people so that we may have a peaceful society, and when gov't becomes destructive of those ends, that we have the right to alter or abolish it. Despite an overwhelming display by the people to say that we want our troops brought home, G.W.Bush is calling to escalate the troops by 21,000 to take Baghdad. People nationwide protested this today, and here we are in St. Paul on University Ave above Hwy 280. today, and here we are in St. Paul on University Ave above Hwy 280. - photos: 17 (25 MB)

Recently, I randomly met a soldier who just returned from Iraq. To protect his privacy, I will not disclose even details like his post. We shared a food court table, since there was no room left, and started talking, because he didn't know what the foods I was eating were (quinoa & hummus). After a little chatting, he allowed me to see the photos he recently picked up from the photomart. Bravely, although nervously, he gave me copies of 3 of his duplicates, after checking to make sure there was no identifying info on the photos (which there aren't). I gave him contact info for local vets for peace group & hope he does well. Peace, man, peace. started talking, because he didn't know what the foods I was eating were (quinoa & hummus).
